Shelby Iron Works Park

10268 County Road 42, Shelby, Alabama 35143

The park is open during daylight hours

Visit the Shelby Iron Works Park, where history meets nature in a serene setting. Nestled in the lush landscapes of Shelby, Alabama, this hidden gem offers a glimpse into the past amidst ivy-covered relics and sunlight filtering through the trees. Once a thriving ironworks from 1842 to 1923, this site holds a significant place in Civil War history and the South's industrialization.

The park holds many events throughout the year. Its Monthly Pancake Breakfast always draws a huge crowd on the first Saturday of each month. Shop in our Country Store, explore our Museum, watch the Blacksmiths do their thing, and wander among the ruins of the Shelby Iron Company, the site of what was the largest charcoal blast furnace in the Southern United States.  On the second Saturday in October, the park hosts its Annual Fall Festival, where old-time traditions such as sorghum making, blacksmithing, and Antique Sawmill demonstrations are just a few of the fun things to see.
