Don't let Covid-19 interrupt your genealogy research: Why using our online indexes can help

It is true that Covid-19 has had an impact on the number of visitors we have had at the Shelby County Museum & Archives. And it is understandable that we need to take extra precautions to protect our health and the health of our family and friends. But that doesn't mean that you need to give up on digging into your family's past.
But for those that aren't comfortable with in-person visits, you have the option of searching our collections from the comfort and safety of your home. Our extensive collection of online indexes is a great place to start.

Many of our indexes have order forms where you can request copies of a file for a fee. We also encourage you to give us a call at 205-669-3912 during our normal business hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and let us help you with your research. A preliminary conversation with our research assistant can help put you on a clear path to finding the information you need. If we have information you need, we can discuss the cost of research and copies at that time.
