Shelby County museum & archives

Volunteer opportunities

The Shelby County Museum & Archives, located in the Old 1854 Courthouse in Columbiana, is a rich repository of history.  Located thoughout the building are rooms full of historical artifacts relating to the county's history.  Also located in the courthouse is one of the most well respected county archives in the state of Alabama.

We have volunteer needs just like any other museum or archive.  Many of our needs revolve around technology, such as website design and social media development.

Others areas where valunteers are needed include:

  • Contibuting authors for our quarterly newsletter

  • Records preservation volunteers

  • Corporate fundraising

  • Membership drives

  • Event volunteers

If you are interested in volunteering at the Shelby County Museum & Archives, please click the blue button and complete a Museum Volunteer Application and we will arrange a follow up meeting to determine ways you can contribute to our team.

Thank you for your interest!
